Kevin Gausman’s Glove: Marucci Capitol M Type KG34

Kevin Gausman uses a 13-inch version of the Marucci Capitol M Type KG34. His game glove is not the standard 12.25-inch retail build: Gausman previously used a 12.75-inch Marucci mitt before moving to 13 inches ahead of the 2025 postseason, and he continued using the larger glove after joining the Chicago Cubs in 2026.

What Size Glove Does Kevin Gausman Use?

Kevin Gausman uses a 13-inch Marucci glove. That is larger than the 12.25-inch retail Capitol M Type KG34, so the dimensions of his game glove should not be treated as the retail model’s standard specification.

Why Is Kevin Gausman’s Glove So Big?

Gausman uses the oversized glove to conceal his splitter grip. In an August 2026 interview with the Chicago Tribune, he explained that the larger pocket gives him more room to move his fingers inside the glove without making the grip change obvious to hitters or runners on base.
